Nike Finally Has Plus Size Mannequins!!

While we take a moment to laugh and cry and hug each other let's not forget it's 2019 and even now only 5% of retailers actively market to plus size women that account for 67% of women in the U.S

Anyways unless you've been under a rock....or just unplugged from all the drama, an evil wicked witch by the name Tanya Gold decided to write an incredibly awful piece of garbage naming the mannequin "immense, gargantuan, vast" which pretty much has not gone well. Thank goodness for that.

We have a long way to go before body inclusivity & positivity become the norm. Don't forget various industries make millions upon billions a year feeding on our insecurities and selling us a very limited window on how we should look, dress or be.

FAT-PHOBIA IS A REAL THING. IT EXISTS AND IT PERMEATES FROM WITHIN OUR SOCIETY. But here are some take-aways in case nasty people like Tanya Gold have you feeling down.

  • Health DOES NOT EQUAL SIZE. People of all shapes and sizes are active and healthy and this obsession with thinness being the sole determining factor of "healthiness" is literally unhealthy.
  • You deserve to wear what makes you feel good. If that means a beautifully made sports bra and leggings to match so damn be it. No one should decide that for you but you
  • Ignorant people like this are trying to keep their head in the sand but the reality is that the majority of women around the world look like that mannequin and that is not a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with those curves, those hips, those arms or legs. Nothing wrong with a bigger busy and a bigger stomach. Nothing wrong with running and feeling the jiggle. You are beautiful.
